US grants Việt Nam US$9.5 million to combat COVID-19

According to a press release issued on May 1 by the US State Department quoted by the correspondent of the Vietnamese Information Agency (VNA) in Washington DC, Vietnam will receive aid totaling 9.5 million USD to fight COVID-19, including 5 million to the Economic Support Fund.

The US $ 5 million in economic support from the United States will be used to provide the resources necessary for immediate assistance. They will help promote the recovery of the private sector by minimizing the impact of the pandemic on SMEs and strengthen government support. In the past 20 years, the United States has provided Vietnam with more than $ 1.8 billion in assistance, including more than $ 706 million in the health sector. As soon as the COVID-19 pandemic exploded, the United States government pledged to provide USD 775 million in emergency, humanitarian, economic and development aid to governments, international organizations and of NGOs in the fight against the pandemic.
